A Flex agent is a Kilat Agent that sleeps when nobody is using it and wakes in about a minute when you need it. Flex agents are included in your workspace plan: Free, Plus or Pro. Every workspace starts on Free, with one Flex agent at no cost.
Classic or Flex
Every agent has a run type. You choose it when you create the agent, and you can't change it later.

Both run types get the same agent: chat, Telegram, memory, schedules, skills and the Kilat MCP tools, managed from your Kilat dashboard.
Plans
A plan belongs to your workspace. Plans are paid from your IDR wallet every 30 days; Classic agents and backends are bought separately and never count against your plan.

Buying and changing plans
- Buy or upgrade on Plan & billing. A new 30-day term starts at once, and the unused days of a paid plan go back to your wallet first.
- Downgrade to a smaller plan from the end of the current term. Your Flex agents must fit the smaller plan; delete the extras first.
- Renewal is charged from your wallet when the term ends. You can turn auto-renew off; the workspace then moves to Free at the end of the term.
- If renewal fails, your agents keep running for 3 days while you add funds. After that the workspace moves to Free, and Flex agents over Free's allowance are suspended, oldest kept first. Suspended agents keep their files and memory for 7 days; buy a plan or delete an agent to bring them back.
- Agents can read your plan through the Kilat MCP tool
get_plan, but only you can buy or change it.
Awake time
- Awake time is counted in GB-hours: the agent's memory times the hours it is awake. A 2 GB agent awake for one hour uses 2 GB-hours. A sleeping agent uses none.
- All Flex agents in the workspace share the plan's allowance. It resets at the start of each 30-day plan period.
- When the allowance is used up, Flex agents sleep until it resets. Classic agents are unaffected.
Optional pay-as-you-go for extra awake time, with a monthly cap you set, is planned.
What wakes a Flex agent
- Chat: open its Chat and send a message. The message waits in your tab while the agent wakes.
- Telegram: Kilat receives messages to your bot while the agent sleeps, wakes it, then hands them over.
- Schedules: the agent wakes when one of its scheduled tasks is due.
- Start: the Start button on the agent's page.
Waking usually takes about a minute. It can take longer while cloud capacity is busy; your messages wait meanwhile.
While it sleeps
- The agent's files, memory, chat history, skills and settings are saved when it goes to sleep and restored when it wakes.
- Model provider keys you add in Settings are stored encrypted in Kilat and handed to the agent in memory when it wakes; they are never written to its files.
- Subscription sign-in (such as Nous Portal's device code) isn't available on Flex. Use a provider API key.
Flex agents run on spare cloud capacity in Jakarta. If that capacity is reclaimed while the agent is awake, Kilat saves its state and starts it again. Classic is the uninterrupted option.
Create a Flex agent
- Open Agents → New agent and choose Flex.
- Pick a starting persona and give the agent a name, then select Create Flex agent. Nothing is charged; it uses one of your plan's Flex agents.
- Add your model provider key in the agent's Settings, then chat with it. Connect Telegram from its Telegram tab. See Kilat Agent for setup and safety.
When your plan's Flex agents are all in use, the new-agent page says so. Delete a Flex agent, choose a larger plan, or create a Classic agent instead.
